UFC 157: The Ronda Rousey Show Hits the Big Time
Ronda Rousey is the first female [everything] in UFC history. Technically, Liz Carmouche will be the first women in UFC history to enter the Octagon to fight and the first woman to be introduced, but she is only here because of Ronda Rousey. I am not saying that to marginalize Carmouche who has accomplished an unbelievable amount in a male-dominated sport to earn this opportunity, but because it is true.
The entire sport of Women’s Mixed Martial Arts will stand at a crossroads tomorrow night in Anaheim, California. If Ronda Rousey wins, things keep rolling. The UFC and Rousey will have proven that a woman can carry a PPV. Don’t think that is a small feat. Right now the UFC won’t even trust two of their smallest weight classes to headline a PPV.
If Ronda Rousey loses however… Things get complicated. Dana White and Zuffa want to be in the Ronda Rousey business. Will as many people line up to see Rousey’s comeback and Liz Carmouche’s title reign? Probably not, but we can worry about that in the distant future of Sunday morning.
I personally expect Rousey to do the thing she always does – Get her opponent on the ground and put her arm in a very uncomfortable place. Rousey is now 6-0 with 6 fights with 6 first round armbars. Will it be more of the same on Saturday? I’ll get a post up with a result as soon as possible. Until then, check out the full Primetime series below.

Rousey will be a cash cow as long as she keeps collecting arms.

So pretty

I’ve seen a few pictures of her (like the Carmen and her pictures for example) where she looks pretty good. Others? Not so much.

The Hendo/Machida fight saves this card. The main event is going to go something like this: judo throw, arm bar, tapout. If only Cyborg would make the cut to 135.

I’m a huge Hendo fan, but with the rest of the card (especially the main event that will last at most two minutes) being so…lame, I’m going to have to skip this one. Breaks my heart. Why, Dana? Why?

This is the lamb being led to the slaughter here. Liz is 0-2 vs anyone with a winning record while Rousey is the best in the world argubably at 135 and 145.
