Calvin Johnson on Concussions: ‘You Get Concussed, You Gotta Keep On Playing’

"“[Minnesota LB Chad Greenway] rung my bell pretty good, he got me, he caught me around the chin, that was a good hit. It’s a part of football, you get concussed, you gotta keep on playing. You can’t get afraid to go across the middle any more than you were at the beginning.”"

His coach, bumbling Jim Schwartz, already said Johnson did not suffer a concussion on the play:

"“Our evaluation was he was not concussed, he was thoroughly checked, we are very strong in our evaluation. He was cleared to go back in the game … We are very strong in our evaluation. We are, we as an organization, we have some credibility when it comes to concussions, so just leave it at that.”"

The Lions visit the Eagles Sunday in a must-win game. If Detroit falls to 1-4 and the Vikings beat the Redskins to improve to 5-1, that will be too much of a deficit to overcome and win the division, especially since the Lions haven’t even played the Bears or Packers yet (twice each, plus games against Atlanta and Houston).
