Sportsbook Refunds Money to Gamblers Who Lost Money on Adam Scott at the British Open
Adam Scott gave sports fans one of the greatest hack-fraud choke jobs of all-time at the British Open on Sunday. It was brutal to watch and a truly historic meltdown. If you bet on Scott you watched sure money slip away while some people got incredible long odds just before Ernie Els came back from 4-shots down with four holes to play. If you’re one of the poor souls who had money on Scott, one sportsbook is taking pity. From CBS Eye on Golf:
SportsBettingOnline today announced that management is refunding all players who lost money betting on Adam Scott.
“With so many of the favorites including Woods not cashing, it was a good day for sportsbooks. But that wasn’t the case for those who dropped money on Scott,” stated Dave Johnson, head oddsmaker for SportsBettingOnline.ag. “We feel it’s our duty to refund the players for taking such a bad beat. His collapse was historic and we know the bettors who had him must feel as awful as he does.”
Great move. Sure, a few lucky bastards got rich on Els, but a ton of people lost money on the favorites. Refunding people for Adam Scott’s collapse was a drop in the bucket and thus and excellent chance for some good publicity.

A sportsbook with scruples?
SHUT IT DOWN!

Or even better, given each of them a chance to par the 18th at Lytham to get their money back. Then they’d see it’s not so bad a beat.

the degenerates who bet on golf and lost are just going to be back there next weekend with the refunded money and lose it all again.
it’s like store credit, the store isn’t really losing money by giving it out.

Indeed. The Charlie’s Angels pose made popular from the series reboot in the last decade just underscores the crazy in that one.
