For all the column inches written about Yasiel Puig this season and his apparent disrespect for the traditions and unwritten rules of baseball, the 22-year-old Cuban seems like a good dude, at least when it comes to kids. Monday the Dodgers star outfielder took the Northeast Los Angeles Little League to Dodger Stadium for some BP.

Puig didn’t take it easy on the kids.

But he also showed why he’s an outfielder and not a pitcher.

It’s moments like this why baseball should embrace Puig and not get dragged into foolish arguments about his bat flips, as we saw during the NLCS with the Cardinals. Puig is a marketable star, something MLB shouldn’t take for granted in the year 2013.
