Blue Jays 3, Athletics 1: Shaun Marcum lost his chance at a no-no in the seventh inning for the second time this season, but he still went the distance, allowing the lone hit which was a home run. At 11-6, he’s quietly having a nice season. Then again, so is Jose Bautista (37 HRs), but no on cares because those two hosers play in Toronto.

Orioles 5, Mariners 4 (11 innings): The O’s win and stud draft pick Manny Machado signed! Overall, I’d say today is a great day for Orioles baseball. There’s a sliver of shining light that’s slowly starting to open up. It’s about time.

Braves 4, Dodgers 3: The Braves have 35 comeback wins this year and last night was their ninth walkoff win. They got the mojo workin’.

Tigers 3, Yankees 1: Javy Vazquez simply cannot avoid giving up the long ball. He’s allowed at least one homer in his last six starts. Max Scherzer and his crazy delivery allowed just two hits over six innings. Mild-mannered closer Jose Velverde avoided a bases-loaded mess in the ninth, getting Jeter to ground into a double play. Release the bum.

Mets 3, Astros 1: The Mets have won five straight against Houston, so there’s that. Hisanori Takahashi filled in as closer and worked a clean ninth for the save. Carlos Beltran was 2 for 3 with a home run, but the furious Flushing faithful will probably criticize the way he rounded the bases.

Padres 9, Cubs 5: The Padres are one of three teams in baseball with at least 70 wins, but because of a tragic plague known as East Coast bias, they are not getting their due. Shall we shed a tear? Yes, we shall.

Pirates 7, Marlins 1: The fucking Pirates won! Hit the music…

Ronny Cedeno’s moment on the rollercoaster is my favorite.
