Albert is out for 4-6 weeks with a fractured wrist and in a couple hours or so, Jason Lisk will discuss the impact of his injury. What’s getting lost here in the shadows of all the Pujols panic is how his injury opens up an opportunity for the Pirates to finally seize control of the NL Central. Sure, they’ve lost four straight to dip below .500 once again, but this is resilient, streaky bunch.

Braves 2, Blue Jays 0 — Tim Hudson was easily the shining star of the night, allowing just two hits and striking out eight over eight shutout innings to go along with his second career home run. It doesn’t get much better for a pitcher than a line like that.

Cubs 6, White Sox 3 — Big Z gave up three runs in the first inning so everyone naturally was waiting for him to beat the crap out of everything in the dugout, but he instead responded with seven shutout innings and handed the ball off to Marmol for the save. Our buddy Ozzie was ejected and he had every right to put on a great performance, which he obviously did, because it was an atrocious call. He even kicked Geovany Soto’s mask. Soto’s reaction was priceless. Can’t blame the guy for being amused.

Here’s Brett Gardner throwing out Carlos Pena at the plate and Russell Martin standing his ground and then showing Pena the ball. What a lackluster call by Joe Buck. Didn’t really notice it Saturday. I think he’s depressed:
