With Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum Out of the Olympics, Why Not Give Anthony Davis a Shot?

That leaves the Americans thin inside. Tyson Chandler? He’s battled a litany of injuries this season with the Knicks. He’s an excellent defensive presence, but offers zero at the offensive end (not that they’ll need it, considering the rest of the roster).

Backing up the occasionally-foul prone Chandler? Umm, LaMarcus Aldridge? Kevin Love? Both are traditional power forwards, and not excellent defensive players.

At what point does Coach K approach June’s #1 pick, Anthony Davis? Of course he’s not ready for the Olympics, and he won’t give you anything offensively (again, a team with Durant, Melo, LeBron, CP3, etc, so what). But given the choice of Aldridge or Kentucky’s Davis, why not take the better defensive player?
