Woods is a combined (+13) in weekend rounds at majors this year. At the British Open, he was (-6) after Friday and then shot (+3) on Sunday to finish tied for third. He was (-1) through the first two rounds at the U.S. Open, then shot (+8) on Saturday and Sunday. His best weekend performance was a (+2) at the Masters, which combined with his (+3) in the opening two rounds left him tied for 40th. This is not exactly the form that gave him the rep as the best closer in all of sports.

Yes, Tiger is still quite good at golf. He’s the PGA Tour money leader despite participating in just 15 events. However, he will be defined by majors. It would be worrisome if he was not defining himself by his major performances. Closing out a win here would quiet many, though he will need a far better weekend effort than he has had recently.
