Wes Welker's Horse -- "Undrafted" -- Finished in Fifth Place at Keeneland Yesterday

Wes Welker purchased a racehorse for $50,000 (a relatively modest price in that world) in 2011, and named it “Undrafted” as a nod to his own snub coming out of Texas Tech. The presumably scrappy horse finished in fifth place in a Keeneland Stakes race in Kentucky yesterday; per Equibase, it’s won three races and earned a total of nearly $165,000 in its career (does that word also describe equine athletes?)

It’s unclear if this whole thing has been a profitable endeavor for Welker, who had to incur wh0-knows-how-much costs related to housing, training, feeding, and transporting Undrafted, but the psychic benefits have probably made it all worth it.
