Wells Fargo Championship Tee Times, TV Schedule, Odds: Can Rory Replicate Last Year's Performance?

The Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina starts on Thursday. The field is littered with talent, but the focus will be on Rory McIlroy. Last year, McIlroy shot a 61 and carded a 72-hole scoring record. This year, he’s got some stiff competition as he attempts to win for a third time at Quail Hollow. Eight of the top 12 golfers in the official world golf rankings are in the field. That number would have been nine, but Dustin Johnson withdrew for undisclosed reasons. Making a return this week is Jim Furyk, who has been sidelined all season after a wrist injury.

Quail Hollow will host the 2017 PGA Championship, so the course should be in spectacular condition. That should set up for some great scoring through the first 15 holes. Players will try to hold on to their scores through the Green Mile, and anyone who can finish the closing holes at even par or better should gain on the field.

My Pick

I’m not sure why I should even think about making a pick. I’ve only gotten one right so far this season with Adam Scott and the rest of the tournaments have been crap-shoots, but I guess I’ll give it a go and pick a long shot…Rory McIlroy.

There.
