Von Miller is making the rounds in the afterglow of being the Super Bowl MVP and destroying the Patriots and Panthers’ offensive lines to bring a title to Denver. One of those involved an appearance with Ellen DeGeneres, where the topic of Peyton Manning came up.

Miller said he hasn’t seen Manning since right after the Super Bowl win, and joked “I think he had to rush out to do a Life Alert.”

But then he added that he doesn’t think Manning will retire. “I don’t think he’s going to retire, though, I don’t think he’s going to retire. He still has the physical ability and the mental ability to go out there and be great. I think he still has a little bit left in him.”

I wrote about Manning’s postseason results earlier this week, and while he isn’t the first quarterback to win a title with middling offensive passing production in the postseason, his season as a whole would suggest that if he has much left, it is just a little bit. Here’s a list of guys and what they did in their final seasons at age 36 or older: Peyton would arguably have the worst final season (while winning a Super Bowl) or at least be in the conversation with a beat-up Y.A. Tittle in 1964, Bobby Layne in 1962, or Joe Theismann before he broke his leg in 1985.

Miller, meanwhile, has his own barriers to returning to Denver since he is a free agent, and you can expect contract talks to heat up. He said that he wants to stay with the Broncos, but added “money talks, right?”
