Daniel Berger clipped a rock with his club during his downswing on the par-4 18th hole at Austin Country Club during his match against Phil Mickelson in the WGC-Dell Match Play. Berger was up against a rock wall that impeded his swing, and when the tip of his club caught the rock it jarred his wrist and he missed the ball completely and then lost the club.

Berger and Mickelson were all-square heading into the 18th, but almost immediately after the attempted shot, Berger made an “I’m done” motion to Mickelson. Berger conceded the hole and approached Lefty, who told him, “I’m sorry man. I hope you’re ok.”

Berger said in an interview afterwards that his wrist, “feels more bruised, than it does stinging.”
