Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar (5-1, 4-1 UFC)
vs
Cain Velasquez (8-0, 6-0 UFC)

While a heavyweight title fight is never hard to sell, the UFC has gone with a little different approach to promoting this fight. Velasquez is a Mexican-American, born in California. He’s just like Mark Sanchez! With a “Brown Pride” tattoo on his chest the UFC is billing him as the potential “first Mexican heavyweight champion.”

Some people have made a big deal about the way the UFC is promoting the fight, basically boiling it down to “brown” versus “white,” while both fighters are American-born. The participants don’t really care though, so why should we? Velasquez has never shied away from his heritage. The latest video from his camp reinforced that.

As we move past skin color, we’re dealing with a much leaner Brock Lesnar. He changed his diet in the wake of his bout with diverticulitis and is now walking around in the 265-270 range. For his first few fights in the UFC he generally came in at 280+ pounds of pure muscle. Now he’s a slightly smaller monster.

While its fun to say that Lesnar has never faced anyone with quite the combination of speed and power, Velasquez has also never faced anyone like Brock Lesnar. Cain has one opponent that weighed in at the top of the weight class and that was Ben Rothwell who is put together a little different than Lesnar.

Can Cain beat Brock? Yes. Do I think he will? No. Lesnar says he’s finally improved his boxing, but we all know that the key to the fight is Lesnar’s nonstop pressure. Eventually he’s going to put Velasquez on the ground and form there, its all a formality. I’m so sure about this that I’ve bet Zak Woods of Watch Kalib Run the hair on my head and a Velasquez walk-out T. Also on the line – my beard. WAR BROCK!
