Marc Stein said Chandler-to-the-Knicks is 98 percent happening. Ken Berg, who was the first to report the Chandler story, claims the Knicks would use amnesty on Chauncey Billups, and trade away Ronny Turiaf. Adrian Wojnarowski tweets that the Knicks may trade Billups to the Mavericks, where he might split point guard duties with Jason Kidd (the odd man out would be Miss Universe-dating spitfire JJ Barea).

Here’s where things really get exciting for Knicks’ fans: There’s no point in having a Melo/Amare/Chandler frontline with no guards. So the odd man out would have to be … Amare. And there’s early speculation that he could get dealt to New Orleans in some type of package for Chris Paul.

It’s all very fluid, but a CP3-Melo-Chandler trio would certainly be Top 3 in the East, and without question an NBA title contender this year.
