Travis d'Arnaud Celebrated His Bases-Loaded Walk with a Bat Flip, It Went Poorly
By Kyle Koster
Travis d’Arnaud was fired up after drawing a game-tying walk in the sixth inning against the Philadelphia Phillies. Overcome with excitement, he attempted the rare base-on-balls bat flip — and showed why it’s so rare.
You can tell the Mets catcher regretted his choice immediately and that the bat couldn’t return to Earth fast enough. With each passing nanosecond it remained in the air, another unwritten rule was violated.
d’Arnaud would be wise to stay on his toes during his next few at-bats. Beanball wars have been ignited over lesser infractions of the baseball code.
