The West Michigan Whitecaps are the Detroit Tigers’ Single-A affiliate. They set out to make history last night as so many have before: by strapping a baseball to a tortoise’s back and getting nuts.
Always a recipe for fun.
The goal was to complete the slowest first pitch ever and it appears they accomplished that noble endeavor. Speedy the Tortoise’s trek to home plate took almost five minutes and was just plain electric. He showed dogged determination and didn’t let the moment get the best of him.
Truly a heroic performance.
