The Texas Rangers Have Won the Right to Talk to Yu Darvish

Well it appears that the two horse race between Hogan and Savage for the hottest chick in the room is over. More and more teams are diving in head-first with briefcases full of cash, and that actually makes this whole process infinitely more fun for baseball fans. About two weeks ago the Angels dropped a little over $325 million in the span of a day to win the hearts of Albert Pujols and CJ Wilson, and last night the Rangers shelled out a ridiculous sum just to secure a 30-day negotiating window for a pitcher who could very well fall somewhere between Dice-K, Hideki Irabu and Kei Igawa, and we all know how fun of an experience that can be. I greatly look forward to watching this one from a distance for a change.

It’s important to note that the astronomical posting fee will only be paid should the Rangers and Darvish reach an agreement. However, if they do reach an agreement, and they will, Texas will find themselves loaded with starting pitching as they already have Colby Lewis, Derek Holland, Matt Harrison, Alexi Ogando, and Neftali Feliz, who is expected to join the rotation next season.
