Everyone’s caught up in the fun Warriors, Mr. Triple Double, and James Harden, but guess who nobody’s talking about?
The Knicks.
After a sluggish start – which is what happens when you add three new starters – they’ve peeled off seven of nine, including four straight to surge into a tie with the Celtics in the East. At 12-9, the Knicks are somehow just three games back of the Cavs in the East.
The teams meet tonight at MSG.
Fun stat note: Only four teams have three players in the Top 50 in the NBA in scoring – the Cavs, Warriors, Timberwolves and … you guessed it, the Knicks. This isn’t a Super Team, but the Knicks certainly have a super trio.
The defense must improve, and obviously they must stay healthy – today’s Rose news hopefully won’t be bad – but the Knicks have the offensive firepower to make a run to the Eastern Conference finals.
