So, I guess they are going to call me an “expert.” Hey, people get called expert witnesses all the time, so we’ll go with it. And, you can earn $10 at Fantasy Score if you can beat my score for week 1 (first 100 entrants) in the Big Lead Beat the Expert Contest (no entry fee required for this one). To participate, click into the contest room here. I’m just hoping I don’t embarrass myself too badly and can prevent at least half of you from cashing.

Here’s the team I’m rolling with in week 1 (subject to update only in the event of injury information before the roster deadline prior to the start of Sunday’s games):

My breakdown of the spending on the $50,000 salary cap:

QB Sam Bradford: Bradford is, as far as I know, healthy for Game 1. Who knows how long that will last, but getting him as the 18th-highest priced QB, in a great matchup against Atlanta, seems like it’s worth the gamble to have money to spend elsewhere.

RBs Lamar Miller and Jonathan Stewart: I’ll go with some mid-priced options, but two with good matchups, and guys who should get the vast majority of the carries for their respective teams in the opener.

WRs Odell Beckham, Jr., Demaryius Thomas, and Brandin Cooks: Here’s where I’ll spend my money in week 1. I originally had Mike Evans in this group rather than Cooks, but with Evans likely a game-time decision, that’s too risky. Beckham gets the Cowboys (without Scandrick), Thomas has Peyton with an offseason of rest, and Cooks should be the top option for the Saints.

FLEX Davante Adams: Value play here, he’s outside the top 40 prices right now.

TE Tyler Eifert: If you are not going to spend big at TE, might as well go cheap. Eifert may come with a discount after missing most of last season. He’s the 19th-most expensive TE but I think will be closer to a low end TE1 to start the season.

DST Miami: I’m not saying I want Kirk Cousins to throw a pick-six, but I’ll gladly accept one if it happens.
