Syracuse will shift home status 250 miles or so south to the Bronx, New York on Saturday as they face off against No. 3 Notre Dame at Yankee Stadium.
In what promises to be an epic showcase, the 8-2 Syracuse Orange will lay it all on the line in a spectacular setting, hoping to hand the Fighting Irish their first defeat of the 2018 campaign.

Head coach Dino Babers has his side running in fine order and on a four-win streak; three of those came at their usual home, the Carrier Dome, including a 51-41 victory over NC State, who was ranked 22nd at the time.
But Notre Dame has looked relentless again under Brian Kelly’s command, not to mention they’ve won their last two meetings with Syracuse, which also came at a neutral venue in the tri-state area —MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
The Fighting Irish will surely favor their luck again as they seek to keep up their 100% record under the ‘neutral’ banner. While Syracuse is the in-state squad, Notre Dame fans can be found far-and-wide across the country and are likely to show up in droves to try and drown out the sea of orange.
Syracuse defeated NC State in their October meeting but narrowly lost their only other encounter with ranked opposition this season, losing a close game to Clemson by a score of 27-23 on September 29th.
Considering the Tigers were No. 3 at the time and have since risen to second in the College Football Playoff Rankings, that serves as a warning to Notre Dame that the nine places separating them might not mean much.
Senior quarterback Eric Dungey has been a stand-out star in Syracuse’s attack and has 14 touchdowns this season, on track to beat his personal college season record of 15 that he threw in 2016.
There’s a good chance he’ll find his routes impeded by a Fighting Irish passing defense that’s allowed only six touchdowns in 2018 – only one more than FBS joint-leaders in that category: Mississippi State and Appalachian State.
Notre Dame Quarterback Ian Book missed the 42-13 win over Florida State on Saturday due to a rib injury, but he’s back for Kelly’s side in their trip to Yankees Stadium.
