Super Bowl Week Flashbacks

I used to do something called the Friday Flashbacks, which featured a look at the old newspaper archives for a given week. That went away this summer once Google made changes to their archive search features that made it too time-consuming.

However, I thought I would bust it out for a Flashback to Super Bowl weeks past. Peyton Manning has dominated the news this week in Indianapolis, but how uncommon is it for the big story to have nothing to do with X’s and O’s? After plowing through archives, I can tell you that you live in the golden age of coverage, regardless of what it is you seek. There is far more analysis today, and also far more stories about other things surrounding the game.

So let’s take a walk down memory lane with one story from each Super Bowl week leading into the game–some memorable, some forgotten, and some ridiculous.
