Sunday Night Football: Cowboys at Eagles

Dallas ranks in the top 8 in the league in all four rushing and passing categories, offense and defense yards per play. The Eagles are also in the top 8 in passing, and lead in yards per carry (thanks to Vick as well as the normal running back game with McCoy), but the defense has been where these two teams are separated. Philadelphia is near the bottom in yards per carry allowed and middle of the league in pass defense. The Cowboys may be giving up 21 points a game, but that is deceptive and includes things like those Romo interception returns. Dallas has allowed only 1 team to rush for more than 80 yards (New England, 101) and that will be tested against Vick–though those yards are more properly attributed as part of the passing game if they come out of scrambles.

So we have two teams that have Plaxico Burressed themselves this season, and you never know who will outdo the other tonight. It should be entertaining, and the outcome should still be in doubt late. The Eagles need it more, as it is at home, though Dallas could make a big statement with a road win and knock Philadelphia into serious issues in trying to catch up over the second half of the season.
