South Carolina vs. Georgia: Winner May Takedown Florida in SEC East

Steve Spurrier discussed SEC titles when he came to South Carolina. This season might be his best chance. Florida looks vulnerable. Stephen Garcia is the most experienced quarterback in the SEC. Freshman standout Ace Saunders gives their at times pedestrian offense a home run threat. To get there the Gamecocks will have to get through Georgia (1-4 against them under Spurrier). The Bulldogs have similar ambitions.
South Carolina has three strong advantages. They play at home, where they have won nine of their last ten. They have a strong defense, facing freshman quarterback Aaron Murray. They are the first true test for a newly implemented defense. The Gamecocks will force Murray to win the game through the air. That will be much harder without nefarious jersey salesman A.J. Green.
ESPN is terming this “Monster Saturday.” I would have gone with “Stupendous Saturday.”
