Shell Houston Open TV Schedule, Tee Times, Odds: Will Spieth Win Again Before the Masters?

The Shell Houston Open begins on Thursday at the Golf Club of Houston in Houston, Texas. The field is littered with talent looking to warm up for the Masters next week. Notably absent are Jason Day and Adam Scott, who have both claimed back-to-back wins this year and already appear to be ready to face Augusta National. Jordan Spieth, however, has not had his best stuff as of late, and needs to get a solid result under his belt.

The course favors the long hitters and solid putters. Defending champion J.B. Holmes, as well as Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Patrick Reed, Dustin Johnson, and Henrick Stenson all have a good chance at having a successful tournament. This will also be the fifth time this year we’ve seen Sergio Garcia in a PGA Tour event, and the Spaniard has appeared to be on form. Garcia hasn’t won on the PGA Tour since claiming the Wyndham Championship in 2012, and it would be a good time for him to turn in a top five performance. Phil Mickelson has also had success at the Houston Open. Left last won the event in 2011 and finished fourth the following year, but has repeatedly finished in the top 20.

My Pick

As much as I’d love to see Spieth, DJ, Fowler, or Lefty win in person, I don’t think they’ll do it this week. I do believe this could be Patrick Reed’s week. Reed played very well at the WGC-Dell Match Play and has been fairly consistent all year:
