Or as he’s more commonly known, Edgar Fucking Renteria.

Today, he’s 2010 World Series MVP, Edgar Fucking Renteria. Yup, a crushing two-out, three-run shot to left which is all Lincecum would need. He gave up a solo shot in the bottom of the seventh to Nelson Cruz, but Big Time Timmy Jim recovered nicely and got through the seventh and eighth with ease.

His final line, in a closeout game on the road no less, likely gave Curt Schilling his first wood in years: 8 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 10 K. Selfishly, I wanted to see Lincecum out there for the ninth. He was only at 101 pitches, and seeing him lose his mind on the mound after the final out would have been well worth it. Then again, it’s not like Brian Wilson ever fails to deliver:

My favorite part about what transpired in that fateful seventh? Everyone, everyone – from the guys on Baseball Tonight to Tim McCarver – basically acting as though they knew Renteria would deliver in that spot against Cliff Lee. Give me a break. This wasn’t a broken down Al Leiter on his 137th pitch in Game 5 of the Subway Series. The pompous reactions, already, have been a bit much.

Most impressive stat: Over the last two games, only one Texas Ranger got past second base and that was Nelson Cruz on his solo shot last night. Unbelievable. The Giants pitched their balls off.

How about for some originality? ESPN and Yahoo Sports had a New York Post moment and went with a painful play on words in “San Francisco Feat”:

Thankfully, Fox Sports went their own route and opted for a fitting nod to Willie Mays with “Say Hey Kids.” And yes, Cody Ross has morphed into a beaver:
