Russell Wilson Gets His Own Texas Rangers Baseball Card Even If He Never Plays for Them


Here’s Topps VP Clay Luraschi explaining why Wilson, a fringe baseball prospect who hit .229 in Class A two years ago, gets immortalized in trading card form:

"“Will he ever play for the Rangers? We don’t know. But we thought we’d make a card to let people know what it would look like if he did.”"

Let’s hope when (and if) Wilson ever dons a Rangers uniform it looks a smidge better than this photo-shopped version. It’s a shame Topps didn’t dust off the “Future Stars” graphic like it did for Bo Jackson, another two sport star, back in its classic 1987 set.
