Geno Smith got his jaw broken by linebacker IK Enemkpali on Tuesday. Enemkpali was released shortly after throwing the punch. A little more than 24 hours later … the Buffalo Bills claimed IK Enemkpali.

He’ll play for his old coach, Rex Ryan. Enemkpali was with the Jets last year, appearing in six games as a rookie, but that’s a subplot to the obvious: Rex Ryan, never a fan of Geno Smith, just signed the guy who broke Smith’s jaw over $600.

How many times did Ryan bench Geno Smith over the last two years? I lost track. It might have been half a dozen. If you really want to torture yourself Rex, are you still coaching the Jets if you didn’t put Mark Sanchez back into a preseason game to ruin his shoulder, forcing not-close-to-ready Geno Smith to lead the team in 2013? What a disaster that was.

Gotta love the AFC East.
