Playing a Mid-American Conference game on a Tuesday night is basically begging for something bizarre to happen. Like one team’s cheerleaders running afoul of the officiating crew.
Efforts by the Central Michigan cheerleaders to disrupt Toledo’s snap count while the Rockets had the ball deep in their own territory caused the referee to issue a verbal warning. Predictably, the crowd responded by increasing their own volume because no one comes into Kelly/Shorts Stadium and bullies the spirit crew, that’s why.
