This is not news. The Boston Globe looked at Rondo’s historically bad start after just 9 games. While his time with both teams could count as small sample sizes, Rondo is shooting worse from the line since joining the Mavs. During his final 22-games with Boston, Rondo was 12 of 36. In 33 games in Dallas, he’s 8 of 27.

In Wilt Chamberlain’s worst shooting season (’67-’68), he was 38% from the line. Shaq’s shot 42% in ’06-’07. DeAndre Jordan, who the Wall Street Journal proclaimed the worst free throw shooter in history last month, is 40% from the line this season. In his worst season, he made just 37% of his freebies.

Rajon Rondo is bad. Ben Wallace bad. Luckily, the Mavs have won two straight and averaged 124.5 points over that two-game stretch so the Rondo trade is officially a success. Good job everyone!
