The daily fantasy industry faces a litany of legal threats right now, from its entanglement with various states over whether its permitted to operate, to a bevy of class action lawsuits. On Thursday, a WFAN caller jokingly — I think — threatened to sue the station and Mike Francesa over misleading advertising. Francesa dared him to follow through with it. While Francesa’s point that it will take plaintiffs in all of these daily fantasy lawsuits an inordinate amount of time to actually get paid out if they win, it would be chaos in the sports media industry if aggrieved DFS players started suing hosts for reading allegedly misleading live ads. Again, this is probably unlikely, but if that ever happened it’d be a real shitshow.

Disclosure: The Big Lead is owned by USA Today Sports Media Group, which operates the daily fantasy site Fantasy Score.
