ESPN dropped a lengthy report on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s relationship with the New England Patriots dating back to 2007 and its possible impact on his Deflategate response. While many parts of the piece rehash known facts and suspicion about past controversies, there are enough salacious details to keep us all fat and juicy.

As expected, the Patriots are blasting the report on their social accounts. The team responded with a strongly worded statement taking issue with ESPN’s reporting and the reporting of others on Spygate over the past eight years.

This is the cited apology from ESPN.

The second paragraph here is as close to the team saying, “they hate us cuz they ain’t us” as you’ll ever see.

Best of luck to those tasked with keeping off-color signage out of Gillete Stadium on Thursday night. Going to be an uphill task.
