Oregon Avoids Bowl Ban, NCAA Issues Show Cause Penalty for Chip Kelly
By Jason Lisk
According to Bruce Feldman of CBS Sports, the Oregon Ducks will avoid any postseason ban as a result of the NCAA decision handed down today. The school will lose one scholarship each of the next two seasons. That’s about as good a result as Oregon could have hoped for, and the team will again be a national championship contender in 2013.
Meanwhile, the NCAA will issue an 18-month show cause penalty for Chip Kelly. Powerful stuff, and a strong deterrent for him not to pull a Bobby Petrino and bolt the NFL after half a season to return to college.
