Parsons Xtreme Golf is a newcomer to the golf club market, but in less than a year, the company was founded in September 2014 by GoDaddy.com’s founder Bob Parsons and signed its first Tour player Ryan Moore in March 2015, has managed to make quite a splash on the PGA Tour. On Monday, PXG announced they had signed two-time major winner Zach Johnson.

Johnson won the 2015 Open Championship and joins 2014 FedExCup champ Billy Horschel, Chris Kirk, Charles Howell III, James Hahn, and Ryan Moore.

"“The decision to put PXG clubs in play was not one I took lightly,” Johnson said in a release. “My entire team, from caddie to coach, was part of the discernment process. We all agree that PXG is undeniably the best equipment to help me achieve my goals on the course.” “They are a new old company, that’s the best way I can explain it,” Johnson said. “You have individuals that want to grow the game and I would say even transform the game and give me resources that are essentially unlimited. That’s a pretty awesome formula.”"

The clubs retail between $300 for irons and $700 for drivers, making them quite expensive compared to other major club manufacturer prices, but this may appeal to some golfers who want something different that not everyone has or can afford. A full set of PXG clubs retails for around $5,000.

"GOLF.com: So, who is the person you see playing your clubs, aside from being someone with deep pockets? Parsons: Deep pockets is a very relative thing. A set of our clubs is $5,000. It used to be that’s what you paid for an IBM personal computer. You’d pay way more than that for a car or a motorcycle. So even though the number sounds pretty high, if the game is that important to someone, they’ll be able to swing a set. And that’s the language we use. To find out if you can ‘swing a set,’ give us a call. GOLF.com: You don’t list the price? Parsons: I just tell people they’re expensive. Unless you expect to be spending some long green, these clubs aren’t for you. "

Also on the PXG payroll is Champions Tour player Rocco Mediate and LPGA players Christie Kerr, Gerina Piller, Beatriz Recari and Allison Lee.

On another note, Nike has added Brooks Koepka and Tony Finau to their lineup.
