The annual rendition of “One Shining Moment” over highlights from the NCAA tournament is one of the best parts of March Madness. It signals the end of the tournament and is an enduring tradition that many college basketball fans look forward to.

On Tuesday, CBS and Turner Sports announced that vocals by Luther Vandross and Jennifer Hudson will not be used for this year’s version of the song. A new artist will be used, and CBS and Turner will announce the details in the next few days.

“One Shining Moment” was written by David Barrett and was first used to close the tournament after Indiana topped Syracuse in the 1987 title game. Barrett’s original version was used from 1987 to 1993, then a Teddy Pendergrass rendition was used from 1994 to 1999. Barrett’s was again used from 2000 to 2002, before Luther Vandross’ vocals were used from 2003 to 2009. Hudson took the mantle in 2010, then it went back to Vandross from 2011 to 2015. So yeah, it’s bounced around from different artists a few times and this isn’t as big of a bombshell as you might think.

The Internet is already speculating on who will get the nod, with everyone from John Legend to Adele getting mentioned. But most people seem to think no one will ever top the Vandross version.

For a walk down memory lane, here’s 2015’s version of “One Shining Moment.”
