Olympic Hopeful Gymnast Marisa Dick Created a New Mount That's Now Named After Her

Marisa Dick is an Olympic hopeful for Trinidad and Tobago who has dual citizenship in Canada. While the Olympics aren’t a certainty, Dick has already ensured that her name will forever be a part of gymnastics history. Dick spent months perfecting a move that had never been used in competition where the gymnast springboards onto the balance beam and lands on a split. It looks like the most painful thing in the world to someone who isn’t very flexible, but Dick pulled it off in a world gymnastics competition in Glasgow, Scotland last year. Now it’s in the official gymnastics rulebook and it’s called “The Dick.” Via CBC:
"“It’s super cool to know that my name will kind of live on in the world of gymnastics,” said the Trinidad and Tobago gymnast, who has dual Canadian citizenship. “It’s really exciting. It was one of my biggest goals going into worlds, to get this move named after myself.”"
That’s something to be proud of.
