Mayo was suspended 10 games for violating the league’s drug policy in 2011, which he blamed on an over the counter supplement.
Per the NBA’s anti-drug program, it would take a fourth suspension to be “dismissed and disqualified” from the league for PEDs. Testing positive for a “drug of abuse” warrants immediate dismissal disqualification. Those drugs include amphetamines, LSD, cocaine, opiates, and PCP. The NBA does not classify marijuana as a “drug of abuse.”
