Nick Kyrgios Gives Up, Gets Lectured By Umpire, Goes Back to Surrendering Match

Nick Kyrgios exited the Shanghai Rolex Masters today in a great show of Nick Kyrgios-ness. World #110 Mischa Zverev beat Kyrgios in straight sets (6-3, 6-1) in the second round of the tournament and in the process triggered one of Kyrgios’ signature meltdowns. Kyrgios surrendered multiple points in notable fashion.

He even earned himself a lecture from the chair umpire about professionalism and responded by asking if they could wrap this up so he could go home.

Kyrgios also apparently responded to an upset fan by saying, “You wanna come here and play? Sit down and shut up and watch.” After the match, he continued to express his thoughts towards the fans. Via:

"“If you don’t like it, I didn’t ask you to come watch. Just leave. If you’re so good at giving advice and so good at tennis, why aren’t you as good as me? Why aren’t you on the tour?”"

Earlier in the match, Kyrgios had shown one of his flashes of cocky brilliance and earned an official highlight from the ATP YouTube channel. We’ll have to wait to see if they put together a compilation of his latest worst hits.

What’s even better about this is that the latest meltdown came days after he won the Japan Open, inspiring multiple publications to run profiles about his new attitude. Winning cures everything, but the slightest bit of adversity continues to derail Krygios at any given moment.
