Navy Slotback Will McKamey Has Died After Collapsing During Spring Practice [UPDATE]

Navy sophomore slotback Will McKamey was airlifted to the hospital, after collapsing during a spring practice. He is having surgery to relieve a blood clot in his brain. His mother posted the following message on Facebook.

"Will is currently on the operating table, they have had to do a cranial surgery to relieve the blood clot in his brain. We are overcome with worry but we are relying on God to bring us through this. We are on the plane now and headed to Baltimore. He is at The University of Maryland, we should be there within 2 hours. Please continue to pray!!"

McKamey, who was Tennessee’s Mr. Football in 2012, collapsed with a previous brain injury while a senior in high school. He did not record a carry or reception for the Midshipmen last season.

UPDATE: McKamey died Tuesday night at Baltimore’s Maryland Shock Trauma Center. He had been in a coma since the surgery on Saturday. McKamey was 19. Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo made the following statement.
