The Pittsburgh Pirates were eliminated from the postseason on Wednesday night. Yes, Buctober is over and it’s only Buctober 8th. Luckily, the Pirates got to party during the early hours of September 24th after beating the Rockies. That night they clinched a playoff berth and earned the right to be eliminated from the playoffs after a 1-game series two weeks later.

It was the Pirates third straight trip to the postseason. That’s probably why the team acted like they’d been there and had what looks like a pretty boring celebration that consisted of little more than some Korbel and selfies.

The Pirates have now finished second in their division three straight seasons. The last two seasons, they were eliminated in the 1-game Wild Card. In 2013, they lost in the division series to the Cardinals. That season they got two champagne celebrations! Who says baseball players take themselves too seriously? Certainly not anyone in this photograph.
