Les Brown is the latest to try this college basketball to NFL tight end thing out, hoping to become a man of renown. Brown was just signed to a contract by the Dolphins with a chance to compete for a roster spot. He was an all-state wide receiver in high school in Utah, and had opportunities to play at Oregon, Washington State and BYU, but chose to stay close to home to play basketball at tiny Westminster College. After his junior year, he got an internship with Huntsman Gay Global Capital, and spent two years in the firm’s accounting department.

He returned to Utah to finish his degree, and was approached by a personal trainer to try out for football (his brothers play for BYU). He worked out, got an invite to the BYU pro day, and impressed enough there to get another call from Miami.

"“It was all kind of surreal and then it just hit me: Wow, this is really happening,’ ” Brown said. “So here I am today. I’m very proud to be a Miami Dolphin and very honored. I just can’t wait for the next step.”"
