Metta World Peace, Lakers Reportedly "Inching Closer" to Deal
By Kyle Koster
Metta World Peace — formerly known as Ron Artest and briefly known as Panda’s Friend — has been working out at the Los Angeles Lakers team facility and the two sides are inching closer to a one-year deal, according to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 35-year-old veteran split time last season between China and Italy. He last played in the NBA during the 2013-2014 season. Although no deal is in place, sources tell Wojnarowski there’s belief the two sides will reach an agreement this month.
World Peace spent 2009-2013 with the Lakers and was part of the title-winning team in 2010. The current roster could use some help at the small forward position. To be honest, it could use help at almost every position.
