Mets and Their Grounds Crew Experience Worst Ninth Inning Ever
By Mike Cardillo

The Mets. Only the Mets.
In the last 24 hours the team saw a trade fall apart, an infielder cry on the field and somehow it managed to get even more surreal on Thursday afternoon against the Padres. The Mets were up 7-1 after seven innings and 7-5 going into the ninth, before a rain delay. They were one out away from the win and then the heavens opened up …
" Hold that thought, Jeurys. Mother Nature holding up the end of this one. 2 outs in the 9th. #Mets pic.twitter.com/eVmROPwqWe — New York Mets (@Mets) July 30, 2015 "
After about a 50 minute delay, play resumed with Jeurys Familia back on the mound. He promptly served up a three-run, go-ahead home run to Justin Upton.
And it got worse since it started downpouring again …
The second time around, the grounds crew couldn’t get the tarp on the field quickly, leaving the infield soaked in water.
It's pouring again, they can't get tarp on and the field is sinking further underwater going to be tough to resume. pic.twitter.com/Q24wngrpKg
