Martellus Bennett will be traded to the Patriots, according to Adam Schefter, who added that the Bears and Pats are “expected to swap mid-to-late round picks.”

Bennett missed the last few weeks of last season with a rib injury, and going from 16 games started to 11 contributed partially to his receiving and yardage totals going from 90 and 916 in 2014 to 53 and 439 this past season.

Even with the dropoff, the Patriots now have their most formidable tight end alongside Rob Gronkowski since You Know Who. If Bennett can show glimpses of his 2014 self, when he had the best season of his career, this trade could make the non Patriot nation portion of the country very upset when football is back in our lives.
