Local Tennessee Radio Host Says Jeff Brohm Deal to Be Announced, National Reporters Say Not So Fast

Buckle up, because the Tennessee coaching search roller coaster is entering another eventful turn. This portion of the ride has settled on Jeff Brohm, who coached a Purdue team that had won nine total games over the last four years to a 6-6 record and a bowl game in his first season in West Lafayette.

According to Jimmy Hyams, a Knoxville radio personality, the school will soon announce Brohm as its next coach.

Hyams had earlier reported that the school preferred Brohm to Chad Morris of SMU.

Rick Bozich, a reporter in Louisville, casts doubt on that reporting.

It should be noted that Jeff Brohm and his brother Brian both played quarterback at the University of Louisville. Last year at this time, Bozich reported that claims that a deal with Purdue were almost done were false. That report came right before Western Kentucky played in the conference title game, and he was announced as the Purdue coach the following Monday.

Other reporters have also jumped in to deny that that a deal is imminent.

Chris Low does confirm that there have been discussions.

Meanwhile, Brohm was out recruiting, and a Purdue recruit says that he told him he’s not leaving.
