LeSean McCoy is headed to Buffalo and linebacker Kiko Alonso will be an Eagle, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This is a blockbuster trade, the likes of which are rarely seen in the NFL. McCoy had something of a down year last season, rushing for 1,319 yards on 4.2 yards per carry after 1,607 and 5.1 the year before. Alonso missed all of this past season with a torn ACL, but is just 24 years old. Schefter said on television that the deal is pending physicals.
Interestingly, offensive coach Chip Kelly and defensive coach Rex Ryan are trading for players on opposite sides of the ball. Also of note, Alonso played for Kelly at Oregon.
UPDATE: LeSean McCoy’s agent Drew Rosenhaus weighed in, and the plot thickens:
I just spoke with the Eagles organization and there is no trade for LeSean at this time. There have been discussions but nothing finalized
