LeBron James' Barber Weighed in on His Client's Hair, Said It's All-Natural

LeBron James has not been afforded the opportunity to go bald in peace. Instead his receding hairline has been heavily scrutinized. That particular part of his body began to draw even more attention when the Cleveland Cavaliers star began wearing a rather thick headband. And even greater attention when he ditched it for the playoffs.

Marc Spears of Yahoo! caught up with James’ barber, Nick Castemanos, to talk about the most meme-friendly hair in sports and the guy was more than willing to dispel some myths.

" There is no dye. No additives. No preservatives,” Castemanos [said]. “Everyone thinks he’s dying his hair using [temporary hair colorings] Bigen or Black Ice. It’s all his hair. They still don’t believe me. I get Bigen comments all the time. “I’ve become numb to it. It used to bother me. It’s not easy to hear that.” "

Take that, conspiracy theorists.

But don’t think for a second that attending to the follicle needs of James is an easy task.

" “LeBron is very tedious about how his hair is cut,” said Castemanos, who has been a professional barber for 11 years. “The beard is the No. 1 thing. He leaves the top up to me. I leave him less bald. He’s my guy. “He’s my hardest haircut. He has good hair. You have to cut it right. He just has a few fat patches around the chin that you have to take your time with. You have to have patience. It usually takes about 50 minutes.” "

Hair maintenance was not included earlier this week in ESPN’s detailed breakdown of James’ off days. If we’re lucky the chryon department will edit and we’ll get another segment on the topic after Game 5.

By the way, Castemanos is confident his client’s gaping head wound won’t stand in the way of regularly scheduled trim once the series returns to Cleveland.

“It’s just another hill to climb,” Castemanos said. “He’ll be as good as new in no time.”
