Colin Fraser gave the Kings a 1-0 lead midway through the first period. Marty Brodeur would not give up another goal in regulation.

Anton Volchenkov scored New Jersey’s lone goal of the game late in the second. It was one of only 3 shots in the entire period for the Devils.

Anze Kopitar game-winner in overtime. And the peasants rejoiced. Both teams will have plenty to think about what they’ve done since the series doesn’t pick up again until Saturday night. That will give the Kings ample opportunity to check out Newark’s hottest clubs – like the hotel bar and that tent where people are drinking Budweiser and cooking cheeseburgers in the parking lot of the Prudential Center. What’s that smell? It’s a 1-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Final!
