Jordan Spieth, currently ranked third in the world, was the last of the top four players to decide whether or not he would participate in the Rio Olympics. On Monday morning we finally have our answer, only it did not come from Spieth, but from IGF president Peter Dawson at Royal Troon Golf Club.

"“Now today is qualification day, when the Olympic golf rankings determine the 60 men and 60 women who will be eligible to be entered for the Olympic competition by their respective national Olympic committees. The details of who has qualified have just been published. Sadly we’ve just been informed that Victor Dubuisson, K.T. Kim, and Jordan Spieth will not be playing.”"

Spieth will release a formal statement on Tuesday during his Open Championship press conference. The announcement comes on the final day to withdraw from consideration.

Matt Kuchar will take Spieth’s place.

Rickie Fowler remains committed.
