Jockey Falls Off Horse, Hits Fence, Goes Flying

Lewis Ferguson, an 18-year old jockey in England, fell off his horse during a race at Wincanton on Wednesday. Ferguson was riding the 4/7 favorite, Merrion Square, as he approached the race’s final fence. Merrion Square started to change directions and Ferguson lost control, fell off, hit the fence, and flipped into the air.

Luckily, Ferguson – who was riding in just his fifth race as a professional – didn’t sustain any injuries and was able to walk away. Unfortunately, after the race he was not quoted as saying he wasn’t a gymnast. [Guardian / BBC]
