BYU would have vaulted SDSU in the polls, but they lost at New Mexico the following Saturday. Since the New Mexico loss, BYU has won 6 straight to improve to 26-2 and rise to #7 in on the ESPN/USA Today poll. BYU remains the only team to beat SDSU and the Aztecs have again moved up to #4. (#6 AP)

The SDSU crowd has been preparing for the match up.

Minutes before the 11 a.m. PST tipoff, on cue from SDSU running back Ronnie Hillman, a few thousand students will begin chanting “I believe that we will win” while jumping up and down in a sort of vertical mosh pit stretching from the front row behind the east baseline to the top row of Viejas Arena. There will be a gecko, a Spider-Man, an elf, a 12-year-old kid dressed as a banana — his dad’s a booster — and others in wacky costumes.

If SDSU wins today, they even the season series and have the advantage heading into the MWC Tournament. Winner of the tournament has a good shoat a top seed in the NCAA tournament. If SDSU slows down Jimmer it could be a long day for BYU.

The game is on CBS at 2pm Eastern. Yeah, that’s 11am in San Diego. Who’s awake?
